Patshull Activity Centre
Patshull Activity Centre is a volunteer-run Scout campsite that has been hosting children from across the Black Country, South Staffordshire and Shropshire since before the First World War. A financial donation made by the family who purchased the estate in 2020 has enabled the comprehensive renovation and redevelopment of the facilities.

Updated premises
The planned works involved updating the cluster of early 20th Century buildings, including the former Golf House, to provide accommodation for 28 people, as well as a kitchen, common room and dining hall. There is an enclosed veranda that provides a work/craft area and an adjacent brick-built barn used as a training/classroom and indoor activity area.
Shropshire-based HTL Windows and Doors Ltd were contracted to renovate the existing windows and doors. The renovation required the replacement of the existing windows and doors with new units with high thermal and acoustic performance, whilst maintaining the original character of the buildings. This included fabricating bespoke windows to replace any being removed, to ensure the aesthetic remained as unchanged as possible.
Custom openings
The Kestrel 60 mm window system was chosen thanks to its proven track record in this type of development. The windows feature low U values, PAS24 security accreditation and double glazing. Top-hung units were fitted with folding openers to positively lock the window in a closed or open position with a specific gap, so that restricted opening is possible for safe and secure ventilation.
The high-performance Kestrel thermal framing system was specified for the enclosed veranda. Designed to be integrated with Kestrel window and door suites, this system offers a uniform design for a consistent look. All windows and doors were powder-coated in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) at Kestrel’s own powder coating facility. Kestrel staff were on hand to offer expert knowledge and guidance throughout all stages of the project from initial specification through to on-site support.
